Don't be blue if you can't sell your home - paint!
Wednesday, March 18, 2009
As amazing as it may seem, our subconscious makes a lot of our home-buying decisions. Although there are a lot of outside factors such as the neighbourhood, investment, worth, and renovations, our mind makes itself up based on emotional attachments. Our environment is produced of colors and therefore all colors affect our minds and perceptions, let's take blue for example, the color promotes a calm feeling and can also make a room look larger. Other examples could include a green (nature and growth), or browns and tans that can be associated with family and gives an intense feeling of "home."
There are also colors that may not work as well although they have good intentions such as pink.
Although it's hard to be angry in a pink room, if overdone it can cause irritation because of its brightness, this is where accessorizing shows it's importance. If you want the room to have the feel without the wall color add in a pink accent and it will still stimulate these emotions without the fear of overdoing it.
The most important thing is to always keep colors and their importance in mind, although these ideas and generalities are not universal and more surrounded around personal taste, the effect of color is impossible to ignore.
